Troubleshooting: Cash drawer/receipt printer

First of all, please make sure all the cables are connected securely.

Cables to check:

  • PC to the receipt printer

  • Receipt printer to the cash drawer

Troubleshooting steps:

Case 1

The cash drawer doesn’t automatically open and receipt printer is working — restart your PC terminal

Case 2

Both the receipt printer and the cash drawer aren’t working

  • restart your pc

  • after the windows is booted up. go to windows->printer settings and check if POS80 or FK80 is connected

    • if not, uninstall the driver by right clicking on the printer -> uninstall

  • go to https://www.boxlabs.ca/downloads password: pilot

    • check your receipt printer, if it has Munbyn label then download the Munbyn driver.

      • follow the installation wizard

      • select pos80C

    • download the new pos driver

      • follow the installation wizard

  • Go back to windows->printers again then you should see the new receipt printer installed on the terminal

    • click the receipt printer then try printing a test page by selecting the “print a test page” option on the left

  • Upon the successful printer installation. Open Box

    • go to Settings-> printer settings then select the printer name that was newly installed

  • try opening the drawer and reprint the receipt again
